Description
This banjo started out as a Tenor back in 1991.  The banjo is stunning and Greg Rich made a 5 string neck that is a perfect match for the Resonator about 2 years ago.  This is entirely a Greg Rich design even though it was originally a Tenor from Gibson.
This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell with a Curly Maple Neck and Resonator.  There is Bella Voce carving on the Neck and Resonator which really sets this banjo off.  The hardware is gold and is all original.  That includes a Greg rich era Gibson USA Kulesh Tone Ring and a Gibson USA One Piece Flange.  The hardware has Granada engraving.
The fretboard is Rosewood with Hearts and Flowers and may be Brazillian but I cannot guarantee that.  There is white binding and purfling on the neck and resonator.  The first 4 string tuners are the original tuners from the Tenor but the 5th string tuner had to be added.  That is the only non original part.  I say this is all original because the Tenor is fully present and the neck and 5th string tuner were prepared by Greg Rich himself.
This banjo is insane and is a true collector's item.

Condition
The banjo is also in stunning condition.  I chose not to clean this because it was already clean and it is such a special banjo so I wanted to leave it alone.  This banjo has truly been well taken care of.
The hardware looks incredible.  The gold really shines and basically looks new.  Even the armrest and tailpiece look new and those are always the parts to get worn on a banjo.
The finish is in great shape but there is a lot of fine finish checking which is characteristic of Greg Rich era Gibson Banjos.  Overall the finish looks great and the checking looks pretty cool but causes little effect for appearance unless the resonator is looked at up close.
The neck and fretboard and frets are basically perfect.  There are no spikes or 5th string capo and we will not put either on.  This banjo is museum quality.
The case is in great shape inside and out.  It isn't mint but it is definitely a fantastic case.  The lock is broken but I believe I could find a replacement (I'm not sure of that but I will try and have before).  This is essentially perfect all the way around.
Set Up
This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  The head is the original Remo Frosted Head and is set to 90.  The bridge is a Scorpion Bridge which in my opinion is the best bridge being made.  The intonation is set.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the banjo plays great.  This banjo is perfect.
